3 STAGE BED BUG PROGRAM
A PRO-ACTIVE PROGRAM USING ALTERNATIVES

(One gallon covers approximately 1200 sq. ft)

Experts agree: Bed bug infestations are difficult to control, and no one treatment or technique has been found to be effective in all cases. Still, bed bugs can be controlled through a combination of techniques known as integrated pest management (IPM) – an environmentally sensitive approach that includes prevention, monitoring, and limited use of chemical pesticides.

Preparing your home for spraying and fogging

In order for you to effectively treat your indoor structure it must be prepared accordingly. Unfortunately, the preparation process can be a stressful and time-consuming process; but that’s where our preparation instructions will help. By using our bed bug treatment preparation instructions, you will be able to treat areas of concern that would otherwise be inaccessible. The following is our suggested process:

Stripping Beds
Sanitizing of mattress, box spring, covers, sheets, and pillowcases.

Dismantling:
Dismantle your bed, separating the headboard and foot board from the bed frame. This allows you to thoroughly treat the structure of your bed.

Emptying:
Empty dressers, wall units, book shelves, night stands, and other furniture; contents should be sanitized, bagged, sealed, and placed in another room or outside until job is finished. Any items situated on the floor such as clothing, toys, clutter, etc. should also be sanitized, bagged and sealed. All pictures hanging on the wall should be vacuumed, sanitized, and wrapped.

Vacuuming Bed Bugs
Using a vacuum you will vacuum all box springs, mattresses, bed frames, nightstands, tables, chairs, couches, baseboards, rugs, and pictures.

Laundry:
It is best that all hanging clothes are sent to a laundry facility. Laundry should be removed from closets and dressers, sorting whites from dark's, and placed into clear plastic bags. Sealed laundry bags should be placed in another room or outside, out of your way.

Perimeter Preparation:
Move couches, wall units, beds, dressers, end tables, nightstands, and all other obstructions three feet from the wall to make the perimeter areas accessible for spraying. Because bed bugs like to move from place to place & room to room, we have put together a protocol that if followed, should help neutralize today’s problem as well as future outbreaks. Below you will find a very detailed plan that will first help stop the insects from migrating into adjoining rooms, then treating the main room/s

BE PRO-ACTIVE

Preparing for your initial treatment

Your first application should be conducted in adjoining rooms (left, right, upstairs & downstairs if applicable) This agenda will help eliminate entrance points to adjoining rooms…

STAGE 1:

Treat “adjoining” rooms…Always start your bed bug agenda using a hand held or back-pack pump sprayer

SEALING & SPRAYING ADJOINING ROOMS:
  1. Your first agenda should be to unscrew all light & plug covers and then put DE in all plug and light fixtures using a pest pistol powder duster. When completed replace covers and caulk around their edges. (use clear caulk) and baseboard if possible.
  2. Spray Dr. Ben's Evictor along baseboards in adjoining rooms (Make sure to get between wall
  3. Apply caulk to seal crevices and joints in baseboards and gaps on shelves or cabinets.
  4. Spray under any loose carpeting
  5. Visually look and inspect the upper corners of walls and behind any lose wall paper for signs of eggs or bed bugs. Spray back of wall paper then when back has dried, glue down.

NOTE: By sealing up the areas described above you will help in the prevention of any additional bugs passing through these areas when you start on the main room.

STAGE 2:

Treat main room…Always start your bed bug agenda using a hand held or back-pack pump sprayer

SEALING & SPRAYING THE MAIN ROOM:

NOTE: DO NOT FOG WITHOUT FIRST SPRAYING AREAS WITH HAND HELD APPARATUS!

  1. Your first agenda should be to unscrew all light & plug covers and then put DE in all plug and wall light fixtures using a pest pistol powder duster. Replace covers when finished.
  2. Spray Dr. Ben's Evictor along baseboards in all infested rooms (Make sure to get between baseboard if possible)
  6. Spray inside cavities of dresser very well (corners especially)
  7. Spray dresser drawers inside, underneath and sides NOTE: make sure you flip up the dresser and any night stands to do a thorough job underneath the entire piece of furniture.
  8. After inspecting pictures and frames, if any sign of eggs or bed bugs are present then spray
  9. Spray down mattresses especially in the fold or crease of the mattress (The Dr. Ben's does not stain and will migrate itself to atmosphere in a very short period of time)
  10. Spray inside of Box spring making sure all wood framing especially corners are wet.
  11. Spray down entire bed frame metal or wood looking for cracks or hollow holes. Seal any holes, cracks and hollow holes if possible.
  12. Spray down head board concentrating on the cracks around the framing.
  13. Spray underneath cabinets in bathroom making sure to include upper part
  14. Spray all living room furniture including under cushions, sides and bottom of couch, Under chairs and other furniture in room
  15. We know in some cases bed bugs will even migrate inside of door key holes you will want to spray in key holes of all doors.

STAGE 3:

FOGGING AGENDA: Preparing rooms for fogging

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Turn off all pilot lights/furnaces Do Not Spray or fog into flames
Turn off all fire alarms, Turn off AC
Remove all pets (ALL)
Close all windows

DO NOT FOG WHEN PEOPLE OR ANIMALS ARE PRESENT…

Place a towel on the floor at the bottom of the front door, so the mist does not leach into the halls.

MASK & GOGGLE NOTICE:
Put on protective mask and goggles, once this is accomplished you can start fogging…

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Do not set the Fogger in the middle of room and leave unattended, it is a hand held fogger and should be used accordingly.

FIRST AGENDA: FOG ATTIC (if applicable)
SECOND AGENDA:
Start the fogging agenda in the farthest room from the front entrance
. As you just used the hand held sprayer in the directions above, you will now repeat the same steps, except you will use the fogger. You will fog at a distance of approximately 24 inches from everything that you just sprayed; this will ensure good penetration of the Solution deep inside the cracks and crevices. As you are spraying these area’s you want to make sure you are also spraying the entire floor area, baseboards, carpet, tile and wood flooring. Make sure you treat/fog under furniture and in closets until you reach the exit door.

Prior to leaving the room, (when you reach the exit), point the fogger straight in the room, turn on high and fog until there is a dense fog in the air. When it is hard to see through the fog, pick up your towel at the bottom of the doorway, open the door and close as quickly as possible then put the towel along the outside of the door so that the solution doesn’t leech out to the hall.

Start on next room (if applicable) and repeat the same protocol as the first room.
You will leave the room closed up for a minimum of 3 hours preferably 24 hours prior to re-entering.
Upon re-entry, open up all windows and turn on ceiling and portable fans so that the air will circulate and go out windows and doors. Do not use AC for airing out the structure as you may get the aroma of cedar into the filter and other areas that will take a while to get rid of. You can now wipe down the tops of all counter tops. (DO NOT VACUUM, allow all furniture and carpeting to dry naturally) this gives the product enough time to dehydrate any eggs.

  1. When finished make sure you have replaced all plugs & light switch covers back in wall.
  2. If possible install child proof plug covers into open plugs not being used by appliances.
  3. Seal by putting a small bead of clear caulk around returned covers of light switches and plugs,

Then inspect for any movement of live insects. Although there should not be any bed bugs alive at this time that have come in direct contact with the solution, there is always a chance that some simply did not die, repeat instructions only, when necessary.

Fogging Video

To whom it may concern,

I am the President and Certified Operator of a State of Florida, Licensed Pest Control Company and have been in the business for over 20 years. I saw the need for an “All Natural” product to use for the many Bedbug problems we are having in Florida. There has been a lot of negative publicity about the use of pesticides, especially on and around beds and bedding areas. I began testing the Cedar Oil Industry products about 6 months ago, mainly for Bedbug infestations. I simply followed the directions: 1) spray the Cedar Oil product on all main Bedbug harborage areas and 2) fog the room thoroughly with the Cedar Oil product, using the Thermal Fogging machine and close the room for 6 hours. I then perform the same treatment as a follow-up treatment in 10-14 days. I give a 60 day guarantee, with unlimited re-treatments if needed. Fortunately, I have never had to perform a 3rd treatment. This program has worked every time.
I have had such tremendous success with this program that I now offer this program “exclusively” for all our Bedbug infestations.
Since Bedbugs are probably the toughest “Biting Insect” to eliminate, and due to our success using the Cedar Oil products, I am also using the same basic program for all “Biting Insects” such as Fleas, Ticks and Mites. I am now using the Cedar Oil products for exterior Perimeter Pest Control treatments and testing it on Lawns and Landscape plants.
I am thrilled with the success we are having and I am working on a complete inside and outside “All Natural Cedar Oil Program” to offer my Customers.

Please let me know if there are any other questions.

Thank you,

Jim Maler
